CARS 2009 Opening SESSION and Tutorials

“Stay Connected from the Modern to the Past”

This year’s Keynotes and Invited Lectures in the Opening Session of CARS 2009 promise to be very informative and thought provoking. All presenters, Michael Vannier, Bill Buxton, Stephen Golding and Liz Beckmann, have a long and highly professional career in the medical and scientific community and a history of addressing interesting issues in most unconventional ways.

The content of patient modelling and human-computer interaction as well as the reflection on historic events of high impact - from advanced medical computing to Darwin and a Mummy - presented by these speakers, will certainly provide a unique opening of CARS 2009. Stay connected from the modern to the past!

From patient-specific modelling to model-based evidence in medicine
M.W. Vannier, Univ. of Chicago (USA)
Visions of creative design for human computer interaction with models
B. Buxton, Microsoft Research (USA)
Darwin, selection, survival, cooperation and CARS
S.J. Golding, Univ. of Oxford (UK), E. Beckmann, Lanmark, Beaconsfield (UK)
CT imaging of the mummy Meresamun with 64- and 256-slice scanners
M.W. Vannier, Univ. of Chicago (USA)

We also should like to draw your attention to four highly topical tutorials, which will take place during the day of the Opening of CARS on Wednesday, 24th June 2009.

The above eight presentations, in addition to the lectures of the Clinical Day and the Workshop on NOTES, also planned for Wednesday, should be given top priority in anybody’s calendar with space for attending strategic important events.

Looking forward to see you in Berlin.

Yours sincerely,
